Love's Sweet Exile

Thank the lord it is pay day! January has been a very long month and I've done loads of sales shopping and booked loads of trips away, skint is an understatement. Rail tickets are so expensive. I will be going to Manchester for the Easter weekend, I had the best time ever when I went there a couple of years ago so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm thinking of popping to a few galleries and museums and of course a big night at a club that plays loads of The Smiths and Stone Roses. Got any Manchester recommendations for me?

Anyway, here are some of my sales buys-

Wore this dress to work

Dress, Shoes, Cardigan: New Look
Belt: Dorothy Perkins

Wore this to meet up with friends for lunch and to see War Horse
Dress & shoes: New Look
Bag: Charity shop
Belt: Dorothy Perkins

I ended up buying the lace dress from this post in the ASOS sale for about £20 and I wore it out this Saturday. I would love to think I looked very chic but I had way too much sambuca to be lady like. Good night out though ;) I got the Revlon lipstick that Lily mentioned, I love my Topshop Brighton Rock lipstick but it is so bright. This is a great shade and isn't too harsh, well worth £2.99.

How was your January and what exciting things have you got planned for Feb? I will be heading to Plus London Two on Saturday, any of you going?

Crabtree and Evelyn Avocado, Olive and Basil Body and Hand Care Collection

I attended a lovely preview evening in Crabtree and Evelyn on Monday and was lucky enough to be one of the first people in the UK(maybe the world?) to see the new Avocado, Olive and Basil range. We were able to try out the new products and watch a hand demonstration by the store manager Rob. Everyone who works at Cardiff Crabree and Evelyn is lovely, you need to pop in and say hi to Lucy if you are in Cardiff. I love attending events in Cardiff because I get a chance to catch up with all of the lovely local bloggers.

Mmmm avocado nibbles!

I got a little sample pack to take home with me and I've been using the hand therapy every day. I have noticed a big difference in the softness of my hands. In the demonstration we were told that people who use computers frequently (us bloggers) need to moisturise the part of the hand that is always resting on our laptops or keyboards so I have been paying special attention to this area.
The Hand Therapy is packed with nourishing shea butter and avocado fruit extract condition the skin, while avocado butter helps leave it softer. It is also formulated with a blend of vitamins C and E along with myrrh extract to help condition nails and cuticles. Basically it has everything you need for beautifully soft hands!

The Avocado range us unisex so I let my brother try the shower gel and he loved the scent, he said it was a nice change from the usually overbearing scent you can get with a lot of mens products. The Avocado range could cut down on the number of bottles you have in the bathroom if you and your partner can share it.

This is what I wore that evening-

Dress: River Island
Brooch & Bracelet: Accessorize
Boots: eBay

I picked this dress up before Christmas and I thought it was pretty cheap for RI at £28, I love the little heart belt too. I won't be wearing it too often or to work because I will probably spill tea on it so I will keep it for mess free occasions. As you can see I'm seriously in need of a hair cut, I can't see through my fringe, no idea what to do with my hair and I always end up just getting a trim. Booooring!

I'm loving the Avocado Hand Therapy but what is your favourite new product at the moment?

Fat Frocks Wants...

I'm lusting after so many dresses at the moment and after recently selling ten old ones on eBay I have a good excuse to buy some new ones. I like dresses that I can wear to work, the pub and days out with friends. I think all of these dressed can be dressed down with a cardigan and flats or dressed up with heels, clutch and a pretty necklace.
I'm a bit fed up of Dorothy Perkins *shock* but I am loving ASOS and New Look at the moment, these are the dresses on my current wish list.

1 Love this navy dress and it has gone down from £40 to £20 so I placed an order today, might do a Sarah and get in in the teal colour too if it looks nice on.

2 I don't have anything like, I think the neckline will be very flattering but it looks a tad short. Models are usually about 5ft10 though so I might be ok.

3 My lovely green and red lace dresses don't really fit me a\anymore and will be going on eBay soon so I will need a replacement lace dress and this is one of the best I've seen. It has sleeves so I wont need to wear a cardi and it looks nice and long.

New Look

4 I have this dress in black and I love it, the dress is more of a bright coral colour in person and is gorgeous. This is a definite #ldnlunch option.

5 This would be great for nights out with some tights and a pastel coloured cardi.

6 Perfect work wear and a good dress to wear on a Friday when I go to the pub after work. Apply some lippy and you're ready to go.

What items do you have on your wish list at the moment? Which Spring/Summer collections are your favourite?

In Aid Of Vintage Guest Post

I've got something a little different to share with you today. I wanted to give Jo and Danielle a chance to tell you all about the Vintage fairs they organise in Cardiff. I love attending these events and they can explain it all much better than I could so here we go...

In Aid Of Vintage – back for 2012!

In Aid of Vintage has been running at the Woodville Pub in Cardiff since Nov 2010 and it’s still going strong.
As sisters we’re both interested in fashion and particularly the opportunity to be a little different, so we set up the fair to address what we felt was a gap in the market in Cardiff.  We run an online vintage shop: www.rosetintedvintage.com and although vintage clothing is becoming more popular we felt Cardiff would benefit from an event where vintage clothing, accessories and jewellery would be available on a monthly basis and at affordable prices.  We also wanted to promote and raise awareness of local sellers and show how accessible vintage fashion could be.
In Aid of Vintage has allowed us to combine our two passions; fashion and charity work.  We are both passionate about being able to create looks that are different, quirky and express who we are.  The fashion scene in Cardiff is certainly experimental and there are lots of individuals with different styles which we wanted to encourage and promote.  Another important aspect about vintage clothing and jumble chic is that it also contributes to conserving the environment through recycling old clothes.  We also wanted to raise money as part of the fair in order to raise the profile of charities and to give something back to a range of charities that we support and share values with.  We both work for charities and we wanted another unique way of raising money for a range of different organisations.  So far we’ve raised money for Oxfam Cymru, Stonewall Cymru, Ty Hafan, Positive Women, The Wallich, Alzeheimer’s Society, Cancer Research, Read International, Amnesty International and the Royal British Legion.

We hope that people can expect the following from our fair; a friendly atmosphere, a really great venue with a treasure trove of vintage items from a range of decades at affordable prices.  We have tried to cultivate a fun and inviting atmosphere where everyone is welcome.
We’ve now run 10 fairs at the Woodville Pub which is the perfect venue for the fair as it’s really quirky and is a hive of students and young professionals.  We’ll be continuing to run fairs every month (from 3pm – 6pm) and we look forward to meeting many more lovely fashionistas!

The next dates for our fair are as follows starting with a January Sale on the 29th Jan – hope to see you all there!

All details are available on our page on facebook:
